Kevin o’rourke memorial scholarship
The Kevin O’Rourke Memorial Scholarship, awarded annually by the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department, was established to honor the life and legacy of Kevin O’Rourke, a devoted member of the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department who went on to serve with the FDNY. Kevin made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001, while courageously responding to the World Trade Center attacks. His dedication to service, both in his hometown and in New York City, left an enduring mark on all who knew him. The scholarship was created to ensure that his spirit of bravery, compassion, and commitment to others continues to inspire future generations.
Each year, the scholarship is presented to outstanding local high school seniors whose academic accomplishments, leadership, and dedication to their communities reflect the values Kevin exemplified. Award presentations, often held alongside the O’Rourke family, celebrate not only the achievements of the recipients but also the lasting connection between the fire department and the community it serves. By recognizing and supporting these young leaders, the Kevin O’Rourke Memorial Scholarship keeps alive the memory of a man who gave everything in the line of duty, encouraging others to follow his example of selflessness and service.
Your generosity not only honors Kevin’s memory but also invests in the future of young leaders who will carry forward his legacy of selflessness and service. Contributions of any amount make a meaningful difference and can be sent to the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department, earmarked for the Kevin O’Rourke Memorial Scholarship Fund.
